Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of part-time Pediatric and Adult Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider. The APP will provide independent clinical care predominantly to a pediatric sleep patient population to support the expansion of the pediatric sleep program at RUSH.
About the Division
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at Rush University Medical Center is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, and research. Building on decades of clinical and academic leadership, our faculty and advanced practice providers deliver state-of-the-art care across pulmonary disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders. The Sleep Medicine program provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for to adult and pediatric patients with sleep-disordered breathing, insomnia, hypersomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and complex sleep-related conditions.
Our mission is to provide outstanding, patient-centered care; to advance knowledge through innovative clinical and translational research; and to train the next generation of clinicians and scholars. The Division supports four ACGME-accredited sleep medicine fellowship and plays a prominent role in Rush’s educational and clinical missions.
Position Overview
We are seeking a 0.5 FTE Advanced Practice Provider (FNP or PA) to join and help expand our Pediatric Sleep Medicine Program.
This position offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with the Pediatric Sleep Medical Director to grow and shape the pediatric sleep program. As an independent provider, the APP will play a critical role in expanding access, developing clinical pathways, supporting quality initiatives, and enhancing program visibility within the Rush system and referring community.
This is an ideal opportunity for an APP who is passionate about pediatric care, pediatric/adult sleep medicine, and program development within an academic medical center.
Department/division specs:
· Partner with pediatric and adult sleep medicine physicians within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine
· Collaborate with the current four APPs within the RUSH adult sleep program
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Four half-day clinics with two additional patient-facing hours (18 hours total) – 8am-5pm
· 100% Outpatient
Preferred Qualifications:
· Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatric sleep medicine is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.
Position Requirements:
Nurse Practitioner:
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
- Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
- CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Physician Assistant:
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
- Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
Pay Range: $118,670 - $167,000
