The pre-surgical nurse practitioners are a collaborative team who provide comprehensive care for children undergoing surgical procedures and diagnostic tests requiring anesthesia. Primary functions of this team include performing pre-operative history and physical examinations, ordering laboratory testing, blood products, consults and pre-operative sedation. Team members must work collaboratively with each other and with members of the anesthesia, surgical and peri-operative nursing teams. Care is provided in a variety of settings including pre-anesthesia telephone screening, assessment of patients in the pre-surgical area, inpatients units, PICU, NICU and medical imaging/interventional radiology. Additional responsibilities include telephone screening of patients who are receiving anesthesia at the Nemours ambulatory surgery centers in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania and Deptford New Jersey.

Master of Science in Nursing
Three years of related clinical experience
License and Certification:
Active Delaware RN and Nurse Practitioner Licenses
Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
Federal DEA Registration
Successful candidate will need to obtain Pennsylvania or New Jersey licenses to facilitate telephone screening for ambulatory surgery center patients.
